The Assistant Director of Financial Affairs, Administrative Operations will direct the management of finances and business services for the Administrative Operations (AO) business area with about $200M in revenues annually. Take initiative to provide strategic advice and counsel to assigned executives and their leadership teams, to ensure strong fiscal stewardship and to identify the impact of high priority initiatives on the unit and organization. Provide proper interpretation of University policies and procedures and collect, analyze, and draw conclusions from data to inform decisions. Authorize and approve business activities and financial transactions.
Work closely with central offices and other business services entities in meeting the strategic goals for AO. Responsible for the development and implementation of specialized financial and management reports to support short-term and long-range planning forecasts and budget recommendations for all applicable funding sources. Provide effective organization, management, reporting and oversight on accounts within the area, ensuring business functions and support documentation that address allowability, allocability, and reasonableness. Lead special projects and initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Financial Affairs.
Act as a fiduciary ensuring financial strength, maintaining internal control compliance and managing risk. Collaborate with individuals across the organization on varied finance and business operation topics. Responsible for development of all recharge rates for all units within the division. Demonstrate strong, focused leadership to direct Business Managers and support staff to provide quality and efficient service in support the mission and operations for the division. Supervise five business office professionals and support staff, serve as mentor and key resource to other business office staff within the Administrative Operations Business Office (AOBO). Serve as backup for the Director of Financial Affairs for Administrative Operations.

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor's degree, with at least 6 semester credit hours in accounting
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive business administration, accounting, financial management or related experience
- Supervisory experience

- Demonstrated ability to understand and prepare complex data analysis and present data according to user requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Personal computer and related software skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, etc.) necessary

- Experienced using Excel, Outlook, Zoom/Teams, internet, etc.
