Career Advisor, Undergraduate Career Services

Job Summary

Purdue University is looking for the right candidate to fill the role of Senior Career Advisor within the Krannert Professional Development Center. The Career Advisor is an experienced professional contributor working with limited supervision.  The Career Advisor is part of a dynamic team of professional development champions actively transforming the Krannert undergraduate student experience as part of the Krannert Professional Development Center’s CareerBound program. This role provides career exploration, career readiness assessment, and interpretation, resume/cover letter review, interviewing preparation, connections to alumni and employers, and overall job search support (at either individual or group level). Provides professional development content in both classroom and workshop environments. Develops strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff that support undergraduate programs and keeps them informed and engaged on employment status and potential action plans to support student success, and provides them with ongoing data metrics and insights.  Stays informed on industry knowledge and trends as well as employer landscape and professional associations to be able to coach students most effectively.  Works closely with the KPDC team and colleagues to contribute to the success of career services and student success initiatives. May provide administrative support for the CareerBound program.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • Four years of work experience in a business discipline, education, training, and development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills in communicating complex information to both internal and external audiences
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, as well as to imagine possibilities for solutions that do not currently exist or are not apparent
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to effectively lead, mentor, manage conflict, and guide staff to enhance performance
  • Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, employers, and alumni

Preferred:

  • MBA/MS preferred
  • Experience in career services
