Clerk, Veterans Success Center

Job Summary

As the Clerk, you will; assist with various Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefit programs for the Veterans Success Center.  Consult with veterans, members of the military and their families about education benefits and assist in resolving problems and concerns.  Maintain database of enrollment records for all students using VA benefits.  Calculate eligible tuition and fees to be certified to the Department of Veterans Affairs and handles other matters related to students' GI Bill benefits.  Process enrollment updates and ensure that Purdue is in compliance with VA regulations.  Assist with residency, absence policy, and withdrawals for military-connected students.  Assist with other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma/GED. 
  • Three year of office or administrative experience. 
  • Proficient computer and related software skills, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database, data query, Internet, etc.  Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  
  • Excellent data entry, problem-solving, organizational, analytical, communication (oral & written), telephone etiquette, and customer service skills.  
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, and work well in a team environment.  

 

PREFERRED: 

  • Previous experience with military-connected education benefits such as the GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, or state administered veterans’ education benefits. 
  • Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulations.  

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • A Background Check will be required for employment in this position.
  • FLSA:  Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime).
