Clinical Assistant Professor, ECC

Job Summary

Purdue University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time Clinical-Track Position in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) at the level of Assistant Professor.  The successful candidate will join the three current full-time ECC faculty.  The department works with and is supported by a team of board-certified specialists in other areas including anesthesiology, behavior, cardiology, clinical pathology, pathology, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, laboratory animal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, theriogenology and toxicology.  The department is nurturing a growing program which includes several experienced emergency doctors, and a residency training program with three residents.  The ECC department is supported by 15 licensed veterinary technicians, two of which are VTS (ECC) with three others currently seeking certification. The ECC service is well established and able to receive and treat advanced trauma cases as well as provide advanced critical care monitoring and support for our patients.  The ECC service has had a consistently growing caseload and receives emergency referrals as well as local emergency cases for Tippecanoe County and the surrounding area.

Qualifications

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Qualifications for the position include a DVM or equivalent degree and board certification or an individual who has completed an ACVECC approved residency training program in emergency and critical care. The position will be a 100% appointment in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.  Clinical commitment to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is approximately 70% of the fulltime appointment.   Teaching responsibilities include clinical, didactic and laboratory instruction of DVM students, veterinary technician students, house officers, and graduate students. Primary emergency call is shared with other Emergency/Critical Care faculty and residents.  Clinical research activity in collaboration with VCS faculty (www.vet.purdue.edu/vcs/) and PVM faculty is encouraged. Participation in engagement activities, including committee work and delivery of continuing education programs, is expected.  We seek candidates with effective interpersonal communication skills and outstanding clinical teaching skills. Candidates should be visionary, enthusiastic and committed to the continued growth and expansion of the Emergency and Critical Care Program at Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  A background check will be required for employment in this position.
