Clinical Assistant Professor in Farm Animal Field Services

Job Summary

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine (PVM), Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS), invites applications for a full-time (12-month) clinical track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in Farm Animal Field Services.


The successful candidate will actively participate in the learning, discovery and engagement activities of the College and Department. These activities include: Service and Engagement:  Providing clinical service to Veterinary Teaching Hospital patients primarily in an ambulatory setting; building strong relationships with dairy and beef cattle clientele and referring veterinarians; teaching and supervising veterinary students, veterinary technician students, and house officers.  Participation in committee work, professional organizations, delivery of continuing education, and other appropriate activities is expected. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills, and be able to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, house officers and producers. Learning: Responsibilities include clinical, didactic and laboratory instruction of DVM students, veterinary technician students, house officers, and graduate students. Discovery: Participation in collaborative research that complements and builds on current PVM and Department of Animal Sciences faculty interests and strengths (www.vet.purdue.edu/vcs/; https://ag.purdue.edu/ansc/Pages/default.aspx).  


Qualifications for the position include a DVM or equivalent degree and board certification or board eligibility in a relevant discipline. Preference will be given to candidates eligible for Indiana licensure. Candidates should have a sincere interest in providing outstanding clinical service, outreach, teaching, and participating in collaborative research.  The predominant clinical responsibility will be caring for beef and dairy cattle. Occasional treatment of small ruminants, swine and camelids is required. An interest in dairy production medicine is desired.  Primary emergency call is shared with other food animal ambulatory faculty. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A background check will be required for employment in this position.
