Clinical Assistant Professor in Special Education

Job Position Description

The Department of Educational Studies (www.edst.purdue.edu) at Purdue University invites applications for a 10-month Clinical Assistant Professor position in Special Education to begin August 2022. In this position, the faculty member will be expected to teach a 3/3 load of courses in our undergraduate programs. In addition, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to faculty service requirements and encouraged to develop scholarship to support the profession. Applicant documents should demonstrate that they meet the following:

Required Qualifications

a)   Hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in special education or a closely related field (ABD will be considered, if degree will be obtained prior to start date)

b)   Minimum of 3 years teaching experience working with individuals with disabilities in K-12 settings,

c)   Experience with positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS),

d)   Experience preparing in-service and/or pre-service teachers, and

e)   A record of teaching excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

a)   Experience in additional areas of special education (e.g., background in applied behavior analysis, systematic instruction, transition, family engagement),

b)   Research interest and productivity in the area of special education teacher preparation,

c)   Experience with the accreditation process.
