Job Summary

 

As a Communication Specialist for the Office of Enrollment Management, you will foster the recruitment of future Purdue students and the engagement of current students through execution of various, highly-visible communication efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a range of skills and interests, including writing, editing, producing multimedia, creating web content, as well as other promotional materials. Your attention to detail and execution of established communication strategies, while working under immediate supervision, will be essential in positioning our institution as a top choice for prospective students, driving enrollment growth, and advancing our mission of accessible education.

 

This position is essential in fostering positive relationships with campus partners and will actively participate in the  implementation of communications plans. As a steward of the university’s brand, the Communication Specialist will develop engaging, curated content that is authentically Purdue and ensure internal and external communications align.

 

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with two days per week expected on the West Lafayette campus. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $45,000 to $48,000. The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.

What We Are Looking For :

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in writing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field
  • One (1)+ years of related professional experience
  • Portfolio/samples of work
  • Exceptional communication, organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
  •  Experience collaborating with creative teams
  •  Marketing/promotional writing experience
  •  Team player with the ability to clearly communicate ideas both internally and to campus partners, including receiving and giving feedback
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities  

 

Skills needed:

  • Objective, enthusiastic, committed, flexible, and proactive
  • Ability to understand and follow set communications strategy
  • Strong writing and editing skills (portfolio/samples of work)
  • Create audience-focused content tailored to different media
  • Consistent quality control in work
  • Align communications with brand guidelines

 


What is helpful:

  • Basic experience using Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite apps
  • Previous experience in reviewing data to determine communication success
