Lecturer, Environmental Politics and Policy

Job Summary

Purdue Political Science Department seeks applicants for a Lecturer position, field open, who can teach courses in environmental politics and policy. Applicants should be prepared to teach the following core courses on campus in West Lafayette: POL 223 Introduction to Environmental Politics and Policy and POL 327 Global Green Politics. In addition, candidates may also teach Comparative or International Environmental Policy, or other introductory or upper-level courses in their area of specialty.

This position is a renewable academic year appointment starting in August 2023, with a teaching load of four courses a semester. A typical semester includes 2 sections of either POL 223 or 327 and two additional courses. There is a possibility for a 3-4 load in conjunction with taking on administrative responsibilities such as managing the Model UN program or other significant student engagement or experiential learning initiatives. Lecturers are reviewed for merit annually and reviewed comprehensively for promotion to Senior Lecturer at least every five years of employment.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in political science, public policy, or a closely related field is preferred. ABDs with a master’s degree will be considered. All requirements for the master’s degree must be completed prior to the start date of the appointment. Candidates should have a record of quality independent instruction at the postsecondary level and evidence of efforts to develop skills associated with excellence in teaching and learning outcomes.
