Contract Analyst

Job Summary

As part of Purdue's Sponsored Program Services Contracting team, this position will actively manage the negotiation of agreements/contracts related sponsored research such as non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, subcontracts, and funding agreements/amendments from Federal and industrial sponsors.  Responsibilities include:   

  •     Providing guidance to faculty and staff regarding contract issues.  
  •     Assisting in monitoring contract procedures and methods, and participating in the development of contracting guidelines.
  •     Maintaining a broad knowledge of Federal, State and University regulations, and applying this knowledge (particularly in the areas of Intellectual Property and Contract Law).


This position will require creativity and strong initiative to identify which contract instrument and language applies to a variety of situations.  This position will be responsible for actively managing a contract negotiation through to completion.



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two or more years of experience in project management, legal/law office administration, or purchasing that includes handling contractual and/or purchase order issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management, and customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures
  • Ability to influence and build effective working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
  • Learning orientation toward changing technology impacting business processes
  • Strong initiative with focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment
  • Personal computer and related software skills (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet, Windows OS, etc.)


  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school
  • Previous experience in negotiation of contracts
