Data Analyst

Job Summary

Purdue University’s Krannert school of Management is looking for the right candidate to fill the role of Data Analyst.  The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide decision support, analytics, and assessment expertise to impact the school’s strategic initiatives and resource allocation decisions. This includes creating, implementing, and maintaining reports; developing reporting processes; and performing analysis while communicating insights in a meaningful way. This role will work both operationally to support recurring business processes, as well as strategically to evaluate the viability of new initiatives.


This posting may be filled at multiple levels (P2 or P3). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Financial Management, MIS, CIT, Math/Statistics, Behavioral and Social Sciences, or closely related field
  • Two years of work experience in reporting, assessment, data extraction, and data analysis
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Experience with report writing in an enterprise reporting tool, filtering, joining, applying business rules, and validating data
  • Ability to finish projects independently, on time, and with high quality
  • Strong communication skills; able to present findings
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization
  • Must maintain confidentiality with sensitive data
  • Provide guidance, coaching for student employees within Krannert
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Proficiency in visualizing data utilizing tools such as Tableau or Excel’s Power BI



  • Four years of work experience in reporting, assessment, data extraction, and data analysis
  • Experience with Student and Financial data in a university setting
  • Power Query and Power Pivot 
  • Experience in analyzing complex data sets, developing projections, and communicating
  • Knowledge of relational databases, including a strong understanding of reporting tools; Cognos or SQL
  • Ability to utilize statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, Minitab)
  • Familiarity with course imbedded assessment, financial modeling, faculty activity tracking, external/regulatory reporting
