Job Summary
The Department of Biochemistry is seeking a Departmental Operations Clerk. In this role, you will receive all incoming deliveries using elevator, skids and hand truck, track all packages received with handheld scanner and TracPad software, and inform all customers when they have a package to pick up. You will sort all mail and put BCHM mail in mailboxes, help customers, dispense departmental storeroom stock items, and order and stock said items. In addition, you will assist the Building Deputy with lifting, moving items and special projects and serve as the Building Deputy backup.
What You'll Doing:
- Recording Tracking #, Ship From, PO#, Ship To, and signature of Pick-Up person
- Receiving, sorting, and delivering U.S. Mail and Campus mail and distributing in faculty/staff mailboxes
- Making minor adjustments to work methods to improve efficiencies
- Recognizing areas of concern and elevating to supervisor as necessary
- Assisting Building Deputy with lifting, moving items, cleaning and other projects as needed
- Trained in EVO-Notify Work Order process to be the backup for the Building Deputy
- Distributing building keys to staff/students when needed as a backup for the Building Deputy
- Keeping Storeroom and Solvent room clean and tidy
- Ordering stock and dispensing supplies purchased by the department for use by everyone in BCHM
- Maintaining inventory levels
- Helping prepare documents for shipping packages via FedEx, UPS and USPS
- Communicating with vendors to identify and resolve any pick-up or delivery issues as necessary
- Filling departmental truck with gas when needed and arranging regular maintenance/service checks
- Picking up food and supplies needed for departmental seminars and events upon request
What We're Looking For:
- High School diploma or GED
- 3 years receiving (or related) experience
- Ability to lift heavy packages
- Ability to push/pull heavy carts
- Ability to get down on knees to perform work/maintenance at the floor level
