Director of Innovative Publishing

Job Summary

The John Martinson Honors College at Purdue University seeks to hire a Director of Innovative Publishing to reimagine scholarly publishing in the twenty-first century. The Director is a digital media expert who works under limited oversight to develop and manage open-access scholarly publications to disseminate scholarly research and creative work by faculty and undergraduate students. 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops complex open-access digital media publications in response to new and ongoing scholarships in the college
  • Performs the full range of project cycles (initiating, planning, producing, editing, publishing, and archiving)
  • Works to develop strategic scholarly publishing plan for College
  • Manages ongoing digital media publications sponsored by the college
  • Responsibilities may include supervision of student interns and researchers
  • Assessment of scholarly publishing efforts

Required:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Four years of related experience in digital publishing
  • In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Writing and editorial skills
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with digital platforms

Preferred:

  • Ph. D. in digital humanities or allied field 
  • Familiarity with public scholarship and/or traditional print publication
