Director of Strategic Diversity Communications

About the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (ODIB) at Purdue University seeks a highly experienced, exceptionally motivated, and resourceful leader with the ability to provide strategic vision to join its leadership team as the Director of Strategic Diversity Communications. Working with units across campus, ODIB staff are focused on creating and sustaining a welcoming campus where all Boilermakers can excel, increasing and retaining the number of historically underrepresented and underserved students, faculty, and staff, and preparing all Boilermakers to thrive in a diverse, global environment.

Fundamentally engaged in work that supports student, faculty, and staff success, ODIB provides thought leadership regarding diversity, inclusion, and belonging by coordinating the efforts of individual colleges and schools at the West Lafayette campus, as well as throughout the Purdue system. In addition to offering programming and professional development opportunities, ODIB staff lead and collaborate with campus partners on storytelling, recruitment, yield, and retention projects that advance equity goals. Presently, many ODIB efforts are underway to support the Purdue Equity Task Force goals related to improving the experiences of Black Boilermakers.

ODIB is also home to five cultural centers on the West Lafayette campus: the Black Cultural Center (founded in 1969), the Latino Cultural Center (founded in 2003), the Native American Educational and Cultural Center (founded in 2006), the LGBTQ Center (founded in 2012), and the Asian American and Asian Resource and Cultural Center (founded in 2015).  Together, the centers serve as physical spaces that celebrate and uplift the rich cultural diversity of our campus, provide all students with access to resources supporting student success, and present events and activities that enrich the lives of the entire Purdue community.
