Job Summary
The Director of Strategic Resource & Cap Management provides leadership in the planning, development, and oversight of financial, contractual, and compliance matters directly related to student-athlete compensation and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activities. This position holds primary responsibility for the administration of student-athlete revenue sharing agreements and is the institutional admin for the CAPS system responsible for ensuring correct and timely payments of revenue sharing agreements through the B1G Conference. This position will also assist with the creation and implementation of NIL opportunities for student athletes across all varsity sports.
The Director serves as a key strategic advisor to the Associate Athletics Director and senior athletics leadership, working collaboratively with campus partners to ensure all athlete compensation mechanisms align with NCAA, conference, state, federal, and institutional regulations. The position requires deep subject-matter expertise in the rapidly evolving landscape of intercollegiate athletics governance, NIL agreements and student-athlete revenue sharing.
What You'll Be Doing:
Student-Athlete Revenue Share Administration
Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of student-athlete revenue share agreements, ensuring full alignment with NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institutional policies. Establish and maintain standardized agreement templates, internal review processes, and approval of workflows. Monitor financial exposure, payment schedules, and the contractual obligations associated with all revenue share distributions. Maintain current and accurate tracking of all revenue share agreements and related activities in designated systems, including CAPS. - Provide regular reporting to athletics leadership on revenue share program status, compliance posture, and financial projections.
NIL Contract Strategy & Administration
Assist the Director of NIL Strategy & Athlete Marketing with the review, evaluation, approval, and execution for NIL agreements, including arrangements with, corporate sponsors, individual businesses, and third-party service providers. Maintain institutional NIL policy frameworks, contract templates, and review criteria consistent with current NCAA and conference regulations. Ensure NIL agreements are properly vetted for compliance, conflict-of-interest, and institutional risk prior to execution. Maintain accurate and current tracking of active NIL agreements and related obligations using designated NIL management systems, including NIL Go. Advise student-athletes and their representatives on NIL opportunities, institutional policies, tax issues and compliance requirements in a clear, accessible manner. Monitor the evolving legal and regulatory landscape governing NIL and proactively update institutional procedures accordingly.
Compliance, Risk Management & Reporting
Ensure institutional compliance with all applicable NCAA, conference, state, and federal laws and regulations governing student-athlete compensation and NIL activity. Develop and maintain robust policies, procedures, and audit mechanisms to ensure transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity across all revenue share and NIL-related transactions. Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and financial risks associated with athlete compensation mechanisms and institutional contracts. Prepare and deliver executive-level compliance reports, financial summaries, and risk assessments for the Associate Athletics Director, Athletics Director, and relevant campus oversight bodies. Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel and Compliance on any matters requiring formal legal review or institutional escalation.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
Oversee the budgetary implications of revenue share distributions, NIL program costs, and athlete compensation initiatives. Prepare and deliver accurate financial projections, program summaries, and executive-level reports for the Associate Athletics Director, Athletics Director, and relevant campus oversight bodies. Develop and maintain internal dashboards and tracking tools to provide leadership with timely visibility into program performance, contractual obligations, and financial exposure. Collaborate with university Financial Services to ensure revenue share payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & External Relations
Serve as a point of contact for Athletics with campus and external partners on all matters related to student-athlete compensation, NIL, and revenue sharing, including Legal Affairs, Financial Services, Compliance, Advancement, Communications, Marketing, Trademarks and Licensing, and Student Affairs. Represent the department in institutional, Big Ten Conference, and national discussions related to the evolving model of athlete compensation. Build and maintain productive relationships with external partners, and conference representatives to support compliant, athlete-centered initiatives. Participate in relevant professional organizations and conference working groups to stay current on emerging trends and regulatory changes.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: student-athlete contract administration, NIL strategy and compliance, sports law, athlete representation, salary cap management, or collegiate athletics administration.
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts in a collegiate athletics, sports agency, or related legal/compliance environment is preferred
- Familiarity with NIL management platforms (e.g., NIL Go) and revenue share tracking systems (e.g., CAPS) preferred.
Skills needed:
- Strong strategic planning, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to communicate complex findings to a broad range of constituencies.
- Proven ability to understand and communicate complicated NCAA, conference, state, and federal rules and regulations in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated ability to function professionally under pressure, manage multiple concurrent priorities, and provide clear information on an impromptu basis to individuals and groups.
- Sound financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, model revenue share distributions, and prepare accurate financial projections and reports.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority work streams and meet firm deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-level reports and present to institutional leadership and governance bodies.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across a diverse range of constituencies, including student-athletes, legal counsel, campus administrators, external partners, and conference representatives.
