Job Summary

The Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (https://www.eaps.purdue.edu/) at Purdue University seeks an Earth scientist for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor rank who conducts research on active tectonic processes using airborne or orbital remote sensing. Individuals who apply remote sensing techniques to the study of ongoing tectonic processes such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and associated hazards on societally relevant timescales are encouraged to apply. Relevant remote sensing techniques could include but are not limited to InSAR, GNSS, gravity, lidar, imaging spectroscopy, and imaging/stereoimaging. Relevant applications could include but are not limited to the study of plate boundaries, the surface expression of active tectonics, volcanic processes, deformation, and rheology.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must have earned a Ph.D. degree in the field of Earth sciences or a related discipline by the start of employment and demonstrate potential to build an independent research program as well as potential to educate and mentor students. The appointee is expected to interact with, complement, strengthen ongoing research activities in the Geology & Geophysics group at Purdue, and teach undergraduate and graduate student courses.
