Job Description:

Job Summary

Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Receptionist to join our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team. This full-time position places you at the heart of our Veterinary Hospital, where you will serve as a vital connection between clients and clinical staff during some of the most critical moments in animal care. You will be responsible for a blend of front desk reception, emergency phone operations, client account management, and occasional liaison support—ensuring every client receives timely, accurate, and empathetic service.

As the first point of contact for clients, you will assist with check-ins and check-outs, process payments, provide information over the phone, and help maintain a welcoming and organized lobby. You’ll also manage client accounts with precision, support financial documentation, and collaborate closely with clinicians and students to ensure smooth communication and service delivery. This role requires strong multitasking skills, excellent communication, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

The position follows a rotating schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, including evenings and weekends.  Flexibility is essential, as shifts may occasionally vary based on hospital needs, and you should be comfortable working independently for part of your shift.
