Job Summary

Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment (IDA+A) performs research, statistical and predictive analysis, and reporting for campus leaders and decision makers in support of evidence-based planning, evaluation, and assessment. We participate in ensuring that well-defined, quality data is available. As part of the Office of the Provost, we directly support the academic enterprise as well as the campus at-large. 

 

Job Summary

  • IDA+A is seeking dedicated Elements Data Assistants to support a critical initiative aimed at improving the accuracy and completeness of faculty records in the Elements system. This role offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in data management, faculty support, and institutional research.
  • Accurately enter and update faculty data in the Elements tool using provided faculty CVs and other relevant resources.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in communication, adeptly managing both virtual and in-person interactions with faculty members to gather and clarify information for profile updates.
  • Retain excellent records to review edits made with the faculty member.

Data Integrity and Compliance

  • Adhere to strict data security policies and best practices for system usage.
  • Complete required data handling training, including FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and Social Security number protection certifications.

Description of Key System

  • Elements: the new streamlined faculty activity reporting system that will reduce manual data entry and allow faculty and leadership to collect and view data such as research awards, publications, presentations, teaching innovations, etc. in one location, ultimately reducing faculty time required for such reporting.

Qualifications

  • Current Purdue University student (West Lafayette or Indianapolis campus)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft suite and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Additional Information

  • This posting is for 3 hourly student workers to start as soon as possible. 
  • Position Type: Part-time, hourly student worker (10 – 20 hours per week) with flexible working hours.
  • Duration: Minimum commitment for balance of the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
  • Pay Rate: $13/hour
  • Location: Hybrid work environment, combining remote work with on-campus presence as required. Flexibility to accommodate faculty preferences for virtual or in-person meetings, including potential visits to faculty offices.
