The Facilities Management group is growing on campus, focused on providing professional service to our building occupants and developing individuals into a cohesive team. Our facilities range from complex labs, offices classrooms and even real estate properties. This position squarely lies at the intersection of lab and facility management.

Purdue University is seeking a Facility Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the Hypersonic and Applied Research Facility (HARF) and Mann Hall while providing partial support for Purdue Applied Research Institute (PARI) security operations. In this highly collaborative role, you will serve as a key resource for faculty, principal investigators, researchers, engineers, staff, students, and external partners, helping ensure these facilities remain safe, efficient, and fully operational. Your work will directly support research and technical initiatives by coordinating facility services, maintenance activities, safety operations, and operational resources.

 

What You'll Do

  • Manage daily operations of HARF and Mann Hall to support a safe, secure, and productive research environment
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and building services in partnership with Purdue Physical Facilities
  • Support building safety and security programs, including partial support of PARI security operations
  • Oversee shipping and receiving activities, mail and copy room services, and conference room scheduling
  • Coordinate and support lift truck, crane, and rigging safety operations
  • Build effective working relationships with principal investigators, faculty, research staff, engineers, students, and internal and external partners
  • Help identify operational needs and implement solutions that improve facility effectiveness and user experience
  • Assist with space utilization, facility resources, and operational planning
  • Provide support and partnership to the Director of Technical Research Operations on facility initiatives and operational priorities

What We're Looking For

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in managing facilities and customer service (customer service experience is preferred)
  • Must obtain IFMA FMP certification within first six (6) months
  • Receive certification to operate Lift Truck and Crane/Rigging operation
  • Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance
  • Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education

 

Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels, both internal and external to the university
  • Knowledge of Safety/OHSA standards
  • Ability to implement safety compliance and enforce in a fair and equitable manner
  • Must be a motivated individual who will take initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $61,992 commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
