The Faculty Awards Specialist provides leadership and high-level administrative support to colleges and departments across campus enabling faculty members to receive prestigious national and international recognitions for their achievements in research, teaching, and service.  The Faculty Awards Specialist works independently and as part of a team to research recognition opportunities, communicate requirements of recognition granting organizations, and implement and scale-up faculty nomination processes.  An excellent writer with extensive experience in communications, proposal development, or technical writing, they will coordinate, edit, help write, and submit faculty nomination packages.  By enabling faculty members to receive prestigious awards, the Faculty Awards Specialist plays a key role in facilitating faculty success and advancing the national and international profile of Purdue University.  A hybrid work schedule is possible for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, edit, help write, and submit faculty nomination packages
  • Work independently and as part of a team in the Provost's Office to research recognition opportunities, communicate requirements of recognition granting organizations, and implement faculty nomination processes for colleges and departments
  • Work closely with college and departmental leadership to identify pathways to awards and recognition for all faculty and cultivate a cultural of seeking and celebrating external faculty awards
  • Draw from various data sources to support outcomes-based program evaluation and institutional benchmarking
  • Help organize various events in honor of award recipients

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Science, Engineering, Technology or a related field
  • Four or more years of writing experience including a strong portfolio of writing and editing for both scientific and lay audiences
  • Demonstrated success in grant-writing/proposal development or relevant associated skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that enable the ability to quickly synthesize information from web pages, faculty CVs and other sources to develop highly compelling written descriptions of faculty research education, or service contributions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as external constituencies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software

What Is Helpful:

  • Master's degree in English, Communications, Science, Engineering, Technology or a related field
  • Six or more years of experience in higher education
