Graduate Programs Assistant

Job Summary

 

The Graduate Programs Assistant serves as the initial point of contact and provides support for graduate student registration and assist in monitoring student progress and performance from admission to graduation for the Department of Computer and Information Technology. This position confers with graduate students on registration procedures, schedule adjustments, course load, area requirements, and general policies established by the Department, College, and Graduate School. This position assists admissions staff with processing all prospective students and required application documents and is responsible for working with the Graduate School, Registrar, and Bursar’s offices to make minor adjustments to departmental admissions processes to meet institutional and student needs and maintain currency with new College and Graduate School procedures, policies, and department policies and procedures. This position also collaborates with the Senior Administrative Assistant to the CIT Department Head, and Administrative Assistant in CIT to help perform such tasks as maintaining the department head calendar, scheduling meetings, and placing orders for lab equipment and supplies. 

 

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED 
  • 4 years of secretarial experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including composing correspondence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in dealing with multiple audiences
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Analytical individual with ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
