Grant Writer

Job Summary

Work with faculty teams across the campus in the writing, editing, and document development of large-scale, interdisciplinary research and programmatic proposals, as well as single-investigator proposals, and facilitate overall grant writing strategies and processes.

  • Bachelor's degree in English, rhetoric and communication, science, engineering, or closely related field
  • Three years of general writing experience
  • Strong portfolio of writing and editing for both scientific expert and lay audiences
  • Ability to understand the broad content of proposed research, articulate a compelling project rationale, establish timelines, and drive best practices for proposal development
  • Ability to strategize with teams, collaborate as an integral member of the proposal team, express ideas clearly and effectively, attend to details, and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment that sometimes requires variable hours
  • Ability to work within the mission and focus of research sponsors and comply with all requirements of specific grant competitions


  • Experience in science and technology fields and grant writing 
  • Experience leading and facilitating teams
