Job Summary

We are seeking driven undergraduate students (3) that are remaining on campus during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break/Recess, and Early-Spring Semester to work at the HLA Plant Growth Facility as Seasonal Horticulture Greenhouse Assistant(s).  Work is to begin as soon as possible through February 1st, 2025.  Depending on the situation, your position might be extended if you prefer.

Duties of the position

1. Irrigate and Fertilize Plants – You will be trained on proper irrigation and fertilization practices for a wide variety of crops.  Once training is completed, you will be asked to render irrigation/fertilization at the facility.
2. Sanitation – You will learn about the importance of proper sanitation at our facility.  This includes cleaning benches and floors, processing plant waste, sanitizing surfaces, etc.  Once training is completed, you will be asked to help us render these services.
3. Project Set-Up/Dismantle – You will help with a variety of tasks related to project set-up/dismantle.  This could range from installation of HID lights to renovating shade curtains systems.  This is highly rewarding for those that are technologically and mechanically driven.
4. Other- We are a full-service facility, so there might be other duties assigned depending on the situation. 

Required Work Schedule

1. Work is required on weekdays and occasional weekends during the semester.
2. REQUIRED HOLIDAY WORK – This position requires work during Thanksgiving and Winter Break.  Scheduled work on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day will be required.  There is flexibility on other days within breaks.
