We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Telecommunications System Specialist to help strengthen the quality, compliance, and reliability of our telecommunication infrastructure across multiple campuses. This role offers a unique opportunity to work independently while making a visible impact on system integrity, audit readiness, and continuous improvement efforts. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in supporting and improving one of the largest higher education telecommunications environments in the state. The individual in this role will work across multiple Purdue campuses and gain hands-on experience with large-scale infrastructure compliance, modernization efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives. As the department continues to evolve and standardize infrastructure practices, this role will have direct visibility into impactful projects that support teaching, research, and campus operations.
What You’ll Do
- Support the quality and compliance of enterprise telecommunication systems by addressing and resolving internal audit findings
- Perform hands-on remediation work, including cabling corrections and infrastructure adjustments in telecommunications spaces
- Review and document corrective actions, ensuring accurate and complete records of remediation efforts
- Assess more than 1,000 telecommunications spaces across locations, including Purdue West Lafayette (PWL), Purdue Northwest (PNW), and Purdue Fort Wayne (PFW)
- Bring telecom environments into alignment with established standards, policies, and best practices
- Track non-conformities, verify resolution, and help ensure preventive measures are in place
- Maintain and manage documentation systems, including version control, approvals, and audit records
- Support teams in preparing for internal and external audits or certification reviews
- Help promote compliance by assisting with training and reinforcing adherence to standards and procedures

- Experience working with telecommunications systems, infrastructure, or technical compliance environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document processes clearly and accurately
- Comfort working independently while managing multiple priorities
- A problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify gaps and implement practical solutions
- Familiarity with audit processes, quality standards, or regulated environments is a plus

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
- Four (4) years of experience required in telecommunications infrastructure, IT support, compliance, auditing, or technical documentation, or a related technical environment
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Experience working with telecommunications rooms (TRs), network infrastructure, or structured cabling environments
- Experience performing technical audits, compliance reviews, or quality assurance processes
- Familiarity with documentation control systems, asset inventories, or infrastructure records management
- Experience supporting multi-site environments or large campus infrastructure is beneficial
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of telecommunications room standards, structured cabling practices, and infrastructure documentation
- Strong:
- attention to detail with the ability to identify compliance gaps and document findings clearly
- organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to:
- manage and maintain technical records, audit documentation, and revision-controlled materials
- work independently while coordinating with technical teams across multiple locations
