Administrative Operations | West Lafayette, IN
Join Administrative Operations as an Industrial Hygienist and contribute to creating safe and healthy learning, research, and work environments across Purdue's West Lafayette and regional campuses. In this entry-level professional role, you will support research safety programs and provide industrial hygiene services focused on recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational hazards. You will work closely with experienced industrial hygiene professionals, you will conduct exposure assessments, perform workplace sampling, analyze findings, and help recommend corrective actions to support compliance and risk reduction efforts. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of settings providing an outstanding foundation for developing expertise in industrial hygiene and occupational health. You'll collaborate with researchers, campus partners, and safety professionals.
Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in occupational health and safety. The role may involve work at heights, in varying environmental conditions, around hazardous materials, in confined spaces, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene or related field required
- An equivalent combination and education may also be considered
Preferred:
- One (1) year of experience in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene
- One (1) year experience in a university setting
Skills Required:
- Excellent communication skills needed
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene profession, Federal and State Regulations pertaining to Occupational Health, and monitoring & surveillance instrumentation and procedures
- Strong work organization, verbal and written communication and demonstrated leadership skills
- Microsoft computer skills
