Job Summary

Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH) is seeking a dedicated Infection Prevention and Staff Educator to lead vital infection prevention and control initiatives that safeguard the campus community’s health. In this essential role, you will annually evaluate and enhance the Infection Prevention Control and Safety Program, Education Plan, and Respiratory Protection Program to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the Student Health Center. You will chair the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, leading monthly meetings that drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

You will also develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs focusing on effective onboarding, retention, and ongoing professional development to cultivate an engaged and competent workforce committed to exemplary patient care. Partnering closely with PUSH departments and leadership, you will support safe, patient-centered care by promoting adherence to regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies through strong collaboration and dedicated staff education. Your leadership will serve as a role model for advancing clinical practice and enhancing patient outcomes.

Purdue University's Student Health (PUSH) Center,has a mission to promote a healthy campus culture by providing high quality, evidence-based, patient-focused primary healthcare through an accredited model of excellence for the Purdue University student community. Our staff of board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners provide student-oriented primary care as well as ongoing care for chronic conditions. We are also accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana.
• Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience with skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties as assigned to this position. 

Preferred:

• Three (3) years nursing supervisor and quality improvement experience.

Skills:

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within health care.
• Ability to provide operational and educational guidance to all PUSH staff.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
• Experience in project management, and departmental leadership.
• Experience with IT communications (Purdue computing environment systems experience, Electronic Health Records, and auditing)
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning infectious diseases and emerging public health concerns
• Analytical reasoning to interpret and act on quality initiative data.
• Participate in committee work (Health Center and University-wide) as appropriate.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
• Excellent organizational skills and leadership abilities.
• Ability to perform complex tasks independently with minimal supervision.
