Instructional Developer

Job Summary

Purdue is currently looking to fill the role of Instructional Developer.  As the Instructional Developer you will develop instructional materials and participate in the technology-based redesign of courses and learning products. Collaborate with faculty to develop instructional assets and course modules. Design digital course content and participate in curriculum development projects. Perform course evaluations and measure learning outcomes. Serve on an interdisciplinary team to develop faculty skills for course design and transformation.


This position could be filled at multiple levels (P2 or P3). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.



  • Master’s Degree
  • 1-2 year(s) experience in instructional development in higher education
  • Familiarity with course design and development models
  • Ability to design and lead workshops and consultations for faculty and instructors
  • Development of instructional resources for faculty
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels  
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to a service-orientation philosophy and approach
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and demonstrate flexibility in various environments
  • Ability to work as a contributing member of a strategic team
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures 
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills  
  • Personal computer and related software skills necessary (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, database, internet, etc.)


  • EdD. or PhD.
  • 4-5 years experience in instructional development in higher education
  • Supervisory experience
