International Scholar Assistance Specialist

Job Summary

The International Scholar Assistance Specialist will work as part of the Purdue International Scholar Assistance (PISA) team on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus. PISA is a new administrative unit. There currently are two Specialist openings, with a further two hires planned for Spring 2023. Once formed, PISA will provide front-line administrative services to support the paperwork and information needs of the International Scholar Services team within the Office of International Students and Scholars.

 
The emphasis for the PISA unit will be culturally competent and empathetic assistance for Purdue’s international faculty, staff, postdocs, and scholars, as well as their host units, through the centralized provision of clerical and administrative assistance.

Responsibilities include- 
1.    Working collaboratively with assigned “customers” (academic and other business units), as well as with partner and stakeholder offices campus-wide
2.    Supporting and promoting department-level compliance with Purdue policies and procedures
3.    Engaging in outreach with campus partners, stakeholders, and our customers, and
4.    Seeking out opportunities to provide welcoming support for our sponsored population. 


The position will also serve as a resource for assigned areas of responsibility. This role is hybrid: some remote work is permitted, but both in-office and campus presence is essential. 

 

Required:

  • For full consideration, a cover letter must be attached. 
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Three  (3)  years of experience involving clerical or administrative support.
  • High-volume and complex data entry
  • High-quality customer service in an extremely fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Analytical ability under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines
  • Proven adaptability to changing circumstances and shifting priorities
  • Strong organizational and time/project management skills 
  • Ability to identify routine problems and implement or recommend solutions 
  • File management and record keeping
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Word; Excel, including Excel reports; Outlook; Windows

 

Preferred:

  • Purdue University experience
  • SharePoint, Adobe DC, Cascade
