Lab Manager (Psychology of Human-Animal Interaction)

Job Summary

The successful candidate will manage the operations of a human-animal interaction research lab. Duties will include: (1) day-to-day management of a nationwide clinical trial of military veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), (2) providing guidance, coaching, and training to undergraduate research assistants and paid study staff, (3) maintaining laboratory space and equipment, (4) facilitating the OHAIRE Coding System online course, (5) communicating with individuals on and off-campus on behalf of the lab, and (6) providing administrative assistance as needed. Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Human Development and Family Studies, Neuroscience, Education, Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, or related field
  • Two years of experience as a lab manager, research coordinator, clinical research assistant, or related experience (this experience could include during the course of an undergraduate BA/BS degree as research credits, independent study, or a paid assistantship, as well as a separate post-BA/BS employment)
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team skills (in person, writing, and telephone)
  • Professional and amicable communication style
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to create timelines and meet deadlines
  • Ability to guide, supervise, and support students and staff
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively work with spreadsheets to track data, finances, and timelines
  • Ability to take coherent and synthesized meeting notes
  • Ability to write cohesive and organized emails as well as documents for stakeholders
  • Willingness to be flexible in daily tasks (integrate multiple tasks into work day)
  • Ability to work alone or with people with varied backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision
  • Ability to independently develop solutions to problems for PI to review
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
