Laboratory Technician - Molecular

Job Summary

Perform routine or specialized diagnostic procedures/tests for identification of microbial pathogens of animals and analyze data in support of the diagnostic and research missions of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. This position is a molecular position with required training in other laboratory sections as needed to provide backup assistance. Additionally, molecular testing on human samples for SARS-CoV-2 (cause of COVID-19) is an expectation of this position.



  • Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field (Veterinary technical degrees may also be considered)
  • 6 months of relevant laboratory experience
  • Consideration will be give to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (Associate’s degree and 2.5 years of relevant experience)
  • Must have the ability to multitask and be flexible in order to accomplish daily tasks
  • Ability to work independently under moderate supervision    



  • Degree in biology or animal sciences
