Job Title:  Laboratory Technician - Pathology
Job Description: 

Job Summary

To serve as a pathology technician responsible for oversight and daily function of the necropsy laboratory, including animal receipt/off-loading, animal disposal, support of ADDL diagnosticians during necropsy by being proficient in prosection of animals and collection of appropriate samples (with instruction), maintaining cleanliness, and assist with the maintenance and monitoring of the pathology facilities and equipment. This position will require excellent interpersonal skills as you will work with numerous different pathologists, pathology residents as well as DVM and vet nursing students.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 
  • Six (6) months of relevant experience 
  • Combination or related education and experience including a High School Diploma/ GED and 4.5 years of relevant experience  

 

Preferred:

  • Veterinary technical degrees may also be considered
  • Carcass processing
  • Laboratory experience in a necropsy laboratory and/or animal handling
  • Experience in a bioscience laboratory (microbiology, immunology, biochemistry/molecular biology)
  • Experience in sterile techniques, biosecurity, cell/microbe culture, molecular biology techniques

 

Skills Needed:

  • Must be highly organized and able to work under pressure while still maintaining communication skills
  • Able to keep up with a rigorous and physically demanding job 
  • Carcass processing or evaluation
