Lead Administrative Assistant, Engagement & Student Success

Job Summary

The Lead Administrative Assistant will provide high-level administrative support for the office of Engagement and Student Success within the College of Engineering.  As the main point of contact for the Office of Engagement, the Lead Administrative Assistant will:


  • field requests from the community for engineering outreach and engagement, and plan and execute such requests
  • facilitate the various committees associated with the Office of Engagement and Student Success activities, including the management of programs, tracking of initiatives, and creation of data reports
  • create reports requested by the Dean, the Office of the Provost and other external and internal entities and partners.  Report creation can require supporting and assisting the gathering of large amounts of data, pulling data from existing databases, and creating graphics to inform decision making at the highest levels of the College.  Data and reports may pertain to scholarships and financial aid, engagement activities, and diversity and inclusion within the College. 
  • maintain the coordination and schedules, and arrange for travel for the Assistant Dean, Associate Director, and others as needed
  • hire, manage, and supervise student staff, assigning tasks and training as needed
  • maintain websites associated with Engagement and Undergraduate Education, ensuring a high level of timeliness, accuracy, and quality


  • High school diploma/GED
  • Four (4) years of experience in an administrative support role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience drafting, editing, and proofreading correspondence
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively support the department and customer needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills to address customer needs and collaborate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Experience coordinating large events and/or projects
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
  • Ability to lead others and provide direction and constructive feedback
