Learning and Development Specialist

Job Summary

As the Learning and Development specialist consistently seeks to understand the learning need(s) of employees within Administrative Operations and advocate for improved work performance through well designed programs. This position will be working closely with AO stakeholders for planning, design, development, and delivery of learning offerings for employees.  You will analyzes trends and best practices in learning technology and instructional design. This position will define and document learning objectives, conduct research and collaborate with subject matter experts, create instructional material, design content and success measures to optimize learning. You will utilize instructional design software such as Camtasia and Articulate and multimedia design software to enhance the learning experience. You will also serves as the learning management specialist to assist employees as well as report on learning analytics. You will use data to drive improvement of learning across the organization measuring effectiveness of learning and development tools, programs, and initiatives. This position will create and implement a train-the-trainer program, lead the Training Roundtable, lead the internal mobility development programs, and partner with community organizations to attract and develop a talent pipeline, assist with orientation. You will also create and conduct technical and leadership training for internal development programs. 

 

This position is a hybrid position where you will work part of your time on the Purdue West Lafayette campus and the other part can be worked remotely.

This newly created position will work in Administrative Services under the Talent Development and Acquisition Manager. 

 

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Education, Psychology, Business Administration or other subjects related to Adult Education 
  • Four (4) – Five (5) years of facilitation of learning and development initiatives and programs and engaging adult learners I on-site and virtual training
    • Experience measuring and evaluating learning activities
    • Experience in creating content, writing, and editing
    • Ability to learn AO operations to create training plans
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered

 

Preferred:

  • Project Management: Previous experience managing projects from inception through post implementation
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Camtasia, and Articulate
  • Experience in / familiarity with equipment maintenance environment

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills with a focus on information and educational design
  • Ability to:
    • make sound decisions in identifying training solutions and proactively resolving learner issues
    • effectively influence and communicate with all levels of the organization and demonstrate the ability to clearly present information to both large and small groups of people
    • diagnose, coach, and recommend solutions to enable leadership teams by collaborating and continuously transforming themselves and their teams/org to deliver business results
