Purdue University’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a Lecture Demonstration & Safety Coordinator to lead the daily operations of our lecture demonstration facility and champion a culture of safety and sustainability.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the lecture demonstration facility, ensuring demonstrations are timely, innovative, and fully functional
- Purchase equipment and supplies, and hire and supervise undergraduate assistants to support instructional excellence
- Develop new, engaging lecture demonstrations and manage the department’s audio-visual equipment
- Serve as the primary Safety Coordinator, collaborating closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to maintain compliance and promote best practices at every level
- Act as a key member of the Department’s Safety & Sustainability Office, advancing initiatives that support a robust culture of safety and environmental stewardship

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related area
- At least two (2) years of chemical safety experience
Skills Needed:
- Familiarity with safety regulations for proper handling of chemicals and safe practice in chemistry laboratories is required
- Highly organized and able to plan ahead
- Able to:
- manage student staff and schedules
- collaborate with faculty for the development of new demonstrations
Preferred:
- Sufficient knowledge of Purdue chemistry course content to be able to initiate new demonstrations
