Lecturer, VIP/EPICS

Job Summary

Principal Duties: The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program in the College of Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position of Lecturer effective Fall 2023. The successful candidate for the position of lecturer will be expected to provide instructional support for the College of Engineering’s VIP and EPICS experiential learning programs by directly teaching and mentoring several multi-disciplinary, vertically integrated (first-year students through seniors) student research and design teams. The person will also be a part of the instructional leadership team and contribute to the development and delivery of curricular materials to support student success on these project teams in collaboration with program administrators, faculty, and graduate teaching assistants. 

 

Qualifications: The candidate must have at a minimum a M.S. degree in an engineering or closely related field with comparable professional or teaching experiences at the university level. Preference is for candidates to have a Ph.D. in engineering or closely related field and/or M.B.A. Experience with mentoring project research and/or design teams throughout the various stages of the development lifecycle is required. Also, experience in student-centric interactive teaching styles (e.g., cooperative learning methods, flipped classrooms, etc.) as well as effective use of technology is desired. Well qualified candidates will also have exceptional organizational and communication skills, an ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds, a motivating and inspiring presence, and passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to ongoing curriculum development.
