Lecturer in Visual Communication Design
Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track, Start Date: August 17, 2026

 

The Department of Art & Design at Purdue University invites applications for a Lecturer in Visual Communication Design. We are seeking a dedicated educator and design professional who will teach undergraduate courses, mentor students, and actively contribute to our creative academic community.

Responsibilties

•    Teach up to eight undergraduate courses per academic year in Visual Communication Design in following subject areas.
    o Graphic design foundations
    o UX foundations & Web Design
    o Graphic Design Software & Generative AI
    o Professional Practice and Design Service
•    Advise and mentor students to support their academic progress and career development.
•    Provide portfolio and résumé reviews for students.
•    Participate in departmental and program activities, events, and collaborative initiatives.

Qualifications

•    Master’s degree in Visual Communication Design or a closely related field (must be completed by August 2026).
•    Proven teaching experience in design education and/or strong professional design portfolio demonstrating industry expertise.
•    Ability to inspire students and build connections with design professionals.

About the Program

The Visual Communication Design program is part of the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance within Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts. The Rueff School includes programs in Art and Design, Theatre and Dance, Film and Video, and Music. The Visual Communication Design program emphasizes rigorous undergraduate education and prepares students for success in professional practice.
