Lecturer - Continuing

Job Summary

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine (PVM) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as a Continuing Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences beginning in September 2019.  Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a strong interest in teaching veterinary students.  Competency and interest in performing and teaching routine surgical procedures in small animal species is required.  Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience. 

Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position involve teaching in the DVM program in the junior surgery courses. Some participation in the problem-based learning courses as well as the clinical skills courses is also expected. The individual may be assigned as instructor-of-record and course coordinator as appropriate.  The successful candidate will work with the junior surgery to create new instructional materials for the junior surgery courses as needed.  Participation in PVM engagement activities such as student summer camps and Indiana State Fair is expected.  Other teaching responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate.

 

The strategic plan of the PVM emphasizes the importance of excellence and innovation in veterinary education that results in the graduation of career-ready veterinarians.  Instruction in basic surgical techniques and clinical skills are important curricular components that contribute to achievement of this goal.
