Limited Term Lecturer - HDFS

Job Summary

 

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) invites applications for part-time positions teaching HDFS-related courses. Potential courses include Research Design & Program Evaluation, Stress & Coping in Contemporary Families, Diversity in Individual & Family Life, and additional courses, as needed, in the Department.

 

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

 

Obligations of this position may include but are not limited to:

Delivering course content, as scheduled;
Holding office hours and other meetings with students (in person or via video conferencing platforms);
Assessing student work and performance (homework, papers, quizzes);
Maintaining the course’s presence in Brightspace;
Assigning and entering final grades for the semester for each student, by the University deadline;
Maintaining FERPA and Title IX certification

 

Education & Qualifications

 

A minimum of a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies or a relevant social or health science discipline with a focus on the development of humans and/or families broadly construed (e.g.  African American studies, Anthropology, Education, Latin American Studies, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, etc.). Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.


The Department of Human Development and Family Studies

 

The Department of HDFS is a diverse department with 24 full-time tenure-track/research and clinical/professional faculty. The Department awards BS, MS and PhD degrees and currently has ~250 undergraduates, and 35 MS/PhD students. At the undergraduate level, there are four majors: Development and Family Sciences, Human Services, Early Childhood Education & Exceptional Needs, and Family & Consumer Sciences Education.
