Lecturer in Communication & Director of Boiler Communication

The Brian Lamb School of Communication invites applications for a Lecturer in Communication and Director of Boiler Communication, the Lamb School’s student led public relations firm.  This is an academic year, non-tenure track appointment, renewable annually.

Principal Duties:

The candidate for this non-tenure-track Lecturer position will be teaching and mentoring undergraduate students and serve as Director of Boiler Communication which will include:

  • Teach/Direct Boiler Communication which has approximately 40 students and works with 12-15 external clients each semester
  • Teach 3 additional classes each semester in Public Relations and related areas as needed by the department such as
    • Problems in Public Relations
    • Social Media for Social Good
    • Problems in Advertising
    • Public Relations Techniques
  • Teach experiential learning classes that work with community partners
  • Facilitate and maintain relationships with multiple community partners and clients
  • Mentor undergraduate students in the Lamb School’s largest concentration, Public Relations and Strategic Communication
  • Participate in departmental and program activities, events, and collaborative initiatives

Required Qualifiations:

Master’s in communication or related field (or applicable teaching and professional experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

Public Relations industry experience

College teaching experience

Demonstrated commitment to experiential and community engaged teaching practices
