Job Summary

As the Library Assistant, you will be responsible for processing billing for both Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and circulation. This role will troubleshoot and assist with resolution of issues involved with interlibrary loan and circulation services billing process, including decisions regarding fee assessment and issues that may deviate from standard ILL workflows/procedures. You will provide excellent customer service for non-Purdue libraries and Purdue patrons. This position will also provide support for other Libraries' functions, such as circulation services and document delivery, as needed.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

• High school education/GED 
• Three (3) years of library, public service, clerical, or related experience required

Preferred:

• Billing and/or accounts receivable experience 

Skills Needed:

• Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, professionally, and tactfully with patrons and co-workers
• Excellent customer service skills
• Understanding of confidentiality requirements regarding patrons’ records and strict maintenance of proper confidentiality on all such information (e.g., HIPAA and/or FERPA)
• Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and communicate this information to library patrons
• Knowledge of computer applications in an office setting with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Capable of working under pressure while paying close attention to detail
