Library Assistant
Job Summary
This position is responsible for processing Interlibrary Loan (ILL) lending requests for Purdue materials from non-Purdue libraries and making decisions regarding how best to fulfill those requests. You will be troubleshooting and resolution of issues involved with the lending process are also required, including decisions regarding fee assessment and issues that may deviate from standard ILL workflows/procedures. Provides excellent customer service for non-Purdue libraries and Purdue patrons. You will assists the Head of Access Services with resource sharing functions around the state and with the Purdue regional campuses, including implementation of a new fulfillment network. This position may also provide support for other Libraries' functions, such as circulation services and document delivery.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- High School Degree or GED
- Three (3) years of library, public service, or related experience
Skills Needed:
- Knowledge:
- of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as Microsoft Office software
- of principles for providing excellent customer service
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Must be well-organized and able to pay attention to detail and concentrate on one task over a period of time
- Ability to:
- manage time and projects with minimal supervision and make independent decisions, when needed
- learn to use complex library-specific software applications, various online databases, and online library catalogs
- work effectively and collaboratively to provide service in a diverse work environment and community
- (with or without accommodations) to reach and kneel repetitively, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently, and push loaded carts
