Limited Term Lecturer
Job Summary
Purdue University is looking for University Supervisors for our Elementary Education student teaching course. We are looking for people who: Love teaching, want to stay involved in the field of education, enjoy mentoring beginning teachers, are hard workers, and that are not looking for full-time work. The University Supervisor plays a vital role in the development of teacher candidates and the co-teaching experience. The supervisor is the link that enables teacher candidates to turn theory into evidence-based practice.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Attend Trainings- 3-4 annually.
- Make Initial Contact with teacher candidates.
- Frequent communication with teacher candidates and coopering teachers.
- Provide feedback on coursework for the teacher candidates.
- Visit schools, observe teacher candidates and meet with coopering teachers.
- Teach course content through 3 seminars and 1-2 professional development meetings with teacher candidates.
- Assign, monitor and assess required course work.
- Document assessment data for teacher candidates.
- Assign a final grade for teacher candidates.
Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education Teaching experience in U.S. Elementary Classroom
- Ability to pass a background check
- Current teaching license is not required
Job Details
- Purdue classifies this position as part-time and consequently no benefits are provided.
- Pay is based on the number of candidates assigned per semester.
- Travel is required for this position. Mileage will be reimbursed.
- Expected start date, January 1, 2024.
