Limited Term Lecturer

Job Summary

The Purdue University Department of Biological Sciences is searching for a Limited Term Lecturer (LTL) for Spring Semester 2021 to teach BIOL 24100, Genetics and Molecular Biology for second-year students, and 48100, Eukaryotic Genetics, for upper level students.  Both are 3 credit courses.


Materials used previously will be provided (syllabi; powerpoint presentations, past exams and assignments).  Specific responsibilities include:  delivering course content as scheduled; holding office hours and other meetings with students (via video conferencing platforms); grading assessments such as homework, papers, quizzes and tests; maintaining the course’s presence in Brightspace; and assigning and entering final grades for the semester for each student by the deadline provided by the University.


The content for BIOL24100 is fixed as it is part of the Biological Sciences undergraduate core sequence.  BIOL241 will be offered for residential and online learners, and the section for online learners must be online and asynchronous (recorded lectures).  Residential student can be taught via face-to-face/hybrid modality, or online with synchronouse lectures.  The content and delivery mode (residential or online) for BIOL48100 is flexible. 


Preferred qualifications:  PhD in biology or a related area, or a master's degree with teaching experience, and at least 1 year of experience with university-level large lecture courses.
