Job Title:  Maintenance Manager, Academic Zones

What You'll Be Doing:

Supervise the operation of a multi craft campus maintenance zone. Serve as the front line liaison with building deputies, faculty, staff and students. Work closely with customers and provide excellent customer service. Provide guidance, direction and administrative supervision to zone members. Train, assign, and check work. Counsel and maintain employee discipline. Conduct performance evaluations and make selection, promotion, wage/salary and termination recommendations. Organize and prioritize work orders and coordinate work with other zones, central shops, and/or teams.  Provide wage, salary, supply, expense and capital budget recommendations. Administer work budgets and monitor expenditures to prevent overruns. Administer preventive maintenance programs for all buildings within the zone while simultaneously recommending and implementing new preventive maintenance tasks.

 

The typical work schedule for this role is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience

Qualified Candidates Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in supervision or technology 
  • 3+ years of administrative supervisory experience, preferably in a technical or industrial area 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered

 

Skills Needed:

  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical systems and building construction and maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals and service manuals
  • Computer literacy with database and word processing knowledge required. Strong organizational skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with proven strong interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, subordinates and peers
  • Conflict resolution skills

 

What’s Nice to Have:

  • Significant experience in facilities maintenance or one of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, refrigeration, etc.
