Job Summary

This position will serve as  technical lead of assigned technical production areas. Subject matter expert in assigned technical areas.  Responsible for providing leadership in organizing, designing and implementing all live event productions and facility development projects.  Responsible for all day-to-day activities required to operate area in support on departmental goals.  Analyze methods and means of production services to find improvement opportunities in coordination with Assistant Director. Lead technical area in continuous improvement efforts.  Work to improve quality, efficiency and delivery of all technical services. Make changes in processes that lead to improved efficiency and quality metrics. Make suggestions to the Assistant Director and Senior Associate Director for ways to enhance and grow the department’s operational footprint within the University and lead resource development efforts throughout the technical area. Enhance department capabilities through resource development activities including improving recruitment and training methods for all workers. Work as a member of production teams in needed capacities to deliver event services. Coordinate the maintenance of the department call calendar.  


What We’re Looking For: 

  • High School Diploma   
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in execution of complex live events 
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Subject matter expert in designated technical area
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems to determine method of repair
  • Ability to delegate and review the work of others
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and lead complex technical productions
  • Demonstrated skills in sound reinforcement, video, lighting and/or stage systems. 
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate financials  and maintain event production records
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure, pay close attention to detail and deal with a variety of daily obstacles to live event production work.  
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.
    Working knowledge of word processing and excel spreadsheets. 
  • Excellent Customer service, strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and customer support. 
  • Flexibility in work assignments and work hours to include some evenings/weekends.

 

            
What is helpful:

  • 8 years of technical production work or 4 year degree in theater production or related field
