Under the general direction of a supervisor, the Multi-Craft Crew Chief performs and supervises the repair, installation, and preventative maintenance of university property. This role requires strong knowledge of blueprints, schematics, computer programs, technical manuals, and catalogs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist personnel in completing work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Prioritize and monitor activities of personnel and functions in coordination with supervision
- Collaborate with vendors, engineers, co-workers, and other administrators as necessary
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing guidance to staff
- Identify and correct material, equipment, and personnel bottlenecks; communicate with vendors and expeditors as needed
- Monitor and address safety issues, advising supervision of corrective actions taken to prevent reoccurrences
- Create, print, and close SAP work orders
- Respond to emergencies, including fire, vandalism, or other urgent situations, and be available for 24-hour on-call duty as required

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
- High School diploma/GED
- Five or more years of experience in either Carpentry, Electrical, General Construction, Indoor Air Quality, Masonry, Plumbing and/or steam fitting, Refrigeration, Sheet Metal or Welding
- College coursework or Vocational/Technical school preferred.
Skills Needed:
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations
- Computer skills/familiarity with word processor and spreadsheets
- Must have general craft knowledge including but not limited to Carpentry, Electrical, General Construction, Indoor Air Quality, Masonry, Plumbing and/or steam fitting, Refrigeration, Sheet Metal or Welding
- Ability to successfully complete supervisory training courses
- Must be able to learn and work with SAP
- Valid driver's license
