Nanotechnology Research Facility Engineer

The Nano Research Facility Engineer will be an integral part for operation and maintenance of specialized nanotechnology research facilities. Set objectives and work independently on large, moderately complex projects or assignments involving operation of a Nanotechnology facility.  This involves sophisticated building automation systems that operates complex air handling units connected to HEPA and ULPA filtration for semiconductor ISO 3 class cleanrooms.  An understanding of cleanroom air borne and surface particle monitoring techniques to meet ISO standards.  Working with precision heating and cooling systems that supports multiple Nano-research laboratories and research equipment.  A strong understanding of industrial power distribution, power quality criteria, and specialized clean grounding systems are required for operation of an RF shielded high accuracy laboratory.  Understanding of electromagnetic interference monitoring and seismic vibration monitoring techniques are important to maintain Nanotechnology facility design.  Experience in semiconductor fabrication involving chemical/environmental treatment systems or similar facilities is a significant advantage.


⦁    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar field
⦁    Two (2) years of experience with sophisticated building automation systems
⦁    In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
⦁    Experience with building automation graphics, data collection, and understanding trending data to improve Nanotechnology building systems 
⦁    Experience with complex air handling system for semiconductor ISO 3 class cleanroom
⦁    Experience in semiconductor fabrication involving chemical/environmental treatment systems or similar facilities is a significant advantage
⦁    Experience with industrial power systems with an understanding of power quality criteria and complex grounding systems
⦁    Able to be given new assignments that may be difficult.  To be self-motivated to learn unique hardware and software applications
⦁    Strong computer and software skills
⦁    Strong knowledge of building automation hardware and software involving detailed data collections to improve Nanotechnology facility specifications
⦁    Using strong computer and technical skills to update Nanotechnology standard operating procedures including field service reports and calibration records
⦁    Strong technical writing skills Generates and maintains standard operating procedures for preventative and predictive maintenance
⦁    Strong computer and software management skills
⦁    Interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills  
⦁    Abilities to generate and implement calibration/balancing procedures for complex air handling and precision heating and cooling mechanical systems
⦁    Industrial power distribution and power quality monitoring
⦁    Special clean electrical grounding systems 
⦁    Project management skills 
⦁    Ability to read electronic/wiring schematics and diagrams needed to maintain sophisticated facility operation 
⦁    Experience with building automation hardware and software systems    
⦁    Experience with CAD software
⦁    Understanding of electromagnetic interference and seismic vibration monitoring techniques 
⦁    Understanding of cleanroom particle control protocols, air borne and surface monitoring instrumentation and data reporting to support ISO 3 cleanroom classification

⦁    This position is subject to 24 hours 7 days call back for technical support for first responder personnel for unscheduled and emergency issues with Nano-research building operations  
⦁    Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position
