Required hours will include days and may occasionally evenings and weekends as needs arise. This role is for students located in Indianapolis and will be primarily an in-person position.

Job Description

The primary role of the ODOS Student Life Associate position is to assist the Student Life Indianapolis team with marketing and communications projects, event planning and assistance, and other office responsibilities and duties. As an ODOS Student Life Associate - Indianapolis, you will play a role in engaging with the student community and promoting department initiatives to this demographic. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of experienced professionals, learn valuable skills, and gain practical hands-on experience. The ODOS Student Life Associate should be available to work 8-10 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor.

 

Prerequisite(s)

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in marketing and communication process and protocol, possess interest and/or experience in event planning, and abilities to execute daily office responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University in Indianapolis
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and their usage trends
  • Creative mindset with an eye for design and aesthetics
  • Basic understanding of marketing principles and concepts
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a dynamic team
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Be timely and organized
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.) is a plus

Postition Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the design and production of marketing materials such as flyers, posters, and digital graphics
  • Brainstorm creative ideas for promotional activities and events
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent brand message
  • Research and identify potential partnerships or sponsorships with campus partners or student organizations
  • Attend regular meetings with supervisors
  • Assist with Student Life events through the planning process, event execution and attendance, and any other facilitation necessary
  • Support the efforts, initiatives, programming, tabling, logistics, and ongoing needs of ODOS
  • Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to clients and staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
  • Serve and participate in committees or meetings within the division to provide feedback from a student lens
  • Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
  • Take on additional tasks or projects as assigned by the supervisor
