What You'll be Doing:
Under direct supervision of a licensed public applicator, train to mix and apply pesticides including restricted-use chemicals, set mechanical traps and use other methods as required to control or exterminate pest as an Industrial, Institutional, and Health Related Pest Control Technician. Train on the how to Inspect infested areas, observe clue such as tracks, food, and structural damage to determine species and population of pest. Wear respitory equipment when required. Work overtime as necessary. Subject to 24 hour callback for emergencies.

Note: This position represents a dual-level posting and will be filled as a Pest Control Technician, Associate (SK1) or a Pest Control Technician (SK2). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.
What We're Looking For:
Pest Control Technician, Associate (SK1):
Education and Experience
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- This position is an entry level and has no previous years of experience required
Skills Needed:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English in order to perform all job duties safely and efficiently
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate daily with customers on a variety of issues
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Must pass a physical examination and successfully complete an annual medical exam in accordance with safety regulations
- Respirator protection may be required for certain operations
- Under the direct supervision of a licensed public applicator, assist with managing wildlife on campus and airport property
- Become familiar with FAA regulations (airport operations), DNR regulations (state permits), US Fish and Wildlife (federal permits), and USDA guidelines (applicable to Vet School and Meat Lab operations)
- Must obtain 7A and 7B pesticide certification categories within 12 months of hire
- Must become familiar with University policies, procedures, and service levels by building and room type
- Valid Indiana driver’s license required
- Knowledge of measuring and handling chemicals preferred
- Familiarity with Purdue campus preferred
What We’re Looking For:
Pest Control Technician (SK2):
Education and Experience
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3+ years of pest control experience as a certified operator
Skills Needed:
- Certification as a Licensed Public Applicator in Categories 7A and 7B
- Working knowledge of EPA, Federal, and Indiana State Chemist Office guidelines
- Knowledge of proper chemical measuring, handling, and application procedures
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform all job duties safely and efficiently
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Strong communication skills, including daily interaction with customers on a variety of issues
- Must pass an initial physical examination and successfully complete an annual medical exam in accordance with safety regulations
- Respirator protection may be required for certain operations
- Responsible for managing wildlife on campus and airport property
- Must be familiar with FAA regulations at the airport; DNR regulations for state wildlife permits; U.S. Fish and Wildlife requirements for federal permits; and USDA standards applicable to the Veterinary School and Meat Lab (both USDA-inspected facilities)
- Must obtain the following within 12 months of hire:NRA Firearms and Pyrotechnics certifications; Category 8 (Community-Wide Mosquito Control, Public Applicator, Anticoagulants, and Cy-Kick) license
- Familiarity with University policies, procedures, and service levels by building and room type
- Valid Indiana driver’s license required
- Familiarity with Purdue campus preferred
