Job Summary
The Purdue University Veterinary Hospital (PUVH) Pharmacist works with the Pharmacy Senior Manager to provide a complete pharmacy service to the PUVH and other College of Veterinary Medicine (PVM) departments, including acquisition of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy-related items, dispensing medications, including labeling and compounding, and may serve as a consultant to students, faculty and outside veterinarians for drug-related questions. The PUVH Pharmacist follows established pharmacy operating procedures, providing service to the Small and Large Animal Hospitals. Will share weekend and Holiday on-call schedule with other staff pharmacists. Will provide teaching to pharmacy, veterinary, and veterinary nursing students and will provide primary oversight to the Veterinary Pharmacy Residency Program.

What We're Looking For:
What is needed:
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D
- 3 years of pharmacy experience OR 1 yearof pharmacy post-graduate residency completed
- Indiana Pharmacy License
Skills Needed
- Non-boarded candidates will be required to take the board certification exam within 24 months of hire.
- Familiarity with all professional and commercial phases of pharmacy, including above-average knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and compounding techniques, especially in the areas of ointments, capsules, and suspensions.
- Knowledge of drug distribution systems as they pertain to a hospital environment
- Ability to use initiative to learn dosages of medicine as they pertain to veterinary medicine, and willingness to research and compound doses necessary to treat all sizes and species of patients
- Capable of working under pressure to meet stringent time constraints
- Decision-making ability requires discretion and independent judgment
Preferred:
- Hospital pharmacy and cleanroom experience
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Veterinary Pharmacy
