Post Doc Research Assistant
Job Summary
A highly motivated postdoctoral research associate is sought to join our growing team at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. Research projects will be focused on the gut-joint axis. Specific research directions include the role of host-microbe interactions and microbe metabolites on modulating musculoskeletal injury risk and post-traumatic osteoarthritis progression, primarily using mouse models. Postdocs are expected to apply for internal and external support and to develop additional independent projects in orthopedics, matrix biology, biomedical imaging, and/or mechanobiology as part of their training.
Education
A Ph.D. or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Biology, or closely related field
Experience working ethically with preclinical animal models
Experience in biomechanics or mechanobiology
Experience in cellular and molecular biology
Experience in statistical analysis, especially with large biological data sets
Experience
Ability to independently design, conduct, and document experiments
Critical thinking, curiosity, and creativity in multidisciplinary research
Effective project and time management, mentorship, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication
